A Casablanca Picnic...
Blankets, champagne, food, and the greatest movie of all time.
That’s what a group of us experienced last night, as the city showed Casablanca on a big screen in the park.
Each of us has different roles when it comes to get togethers: Liz makes her famous cookies, Val brings beverages and side items, and I fix up some tasty tidbits. It’s a role I basically gave myself, and my friends are okay with me spending hours in the kitchen - it is, afterall, what I love to do.
On the menu was a pepper salad, cheese quesadilla, provolone wrapped turkey & genoa, and bread & seasoned olive oil. I’d taken the bread from the oven just minutes before we left, and two hours later it was still piping hot. My trick? Hot food gets three layers: aluminum foil, then (clean) dishtowels, then a basic thermal bag.
The seven of us spread out on blankets and setup a picnic in the middle and nibbled throughout the entire feature. The experience alone makes we want to run out and get the projector I’ve been saving for right now.
