Golden Brown - It's Just Better

Spray It On...

Like the ever-genius Alton Brown, I’ve gone through several oil misters. Since I use olive oil daily, it’s easy to get those nozzles clogged to the point where they do nothing. Of course, the worst was when the bottle itself split, leaving a pool of oil to drizzle all over the cupboard.

Following Alton’s advice I picked up some spray bottles (commonly found in gardening or beauty) and they work just as well. They’re also much easier to clean.

A tip, though. Be sure to get a bottle that has a “spray” setting on the nozzle. Many simply stream the oil out, but a spray setting will shoot it out of the bottle in mists.

These bottles are a great deal cheaper, too. I found spray bottles at a local Target for just 79-cents. I paid $17 for the Misto, and $8 for knock-offs over the years.

Next time you need the grease that bowl for dough rising, moisten the pan for eggs, or mist a chicken breast to get a deep golden brown, reach for the cheaper alternative.
